Is it time E4 shed its Skins?

Its funny, every week me and my housemates watch Skins, we never miss it. Yet we always end up slagging it off, claiming 'its not what it used to be', ' the new characters are rubbish' etc. This always makes me wonder, why do we insist on sticking with it?

I guess there is an odd sense of nostalgia with a programme like this, when it first hit our TV screens we were the same age as the characters, we too were struggling with our A-levels, we wanted an escape and Skins was able to provide us with this, even if it was only for 1 hour a week. We all craved the rock and roll lifestyle that these kids were living and the programme let us feel like we were a part of it.

Maybe the reason we can't connect with it anymore is because we've simply grown up and moved on, just as the original cast have. Are we no longer the target viewing audience?

Perhaps Skins has had its time. When it first burst onto the scene it was fresh and unlike anything else around at the time, maybe we've all cottoned on to it and its become too predictable...

Either way, Skins series 1 FTW!

Modern Technology

Is modern technology to blame for the increasing break down in marriage?

Back in the day, before the phenomenom of mobiles, facebook, emails etc. were people more likely to stay faithful? Surely there was less temptation.

Personally, I can't imagine a world without this kind of technology, its been there for most of my life. But does this mean it's good?

Maybe this is why romance appears to be dead. We live in a world where pretty much any demand can be fulfilled in minutes, 24 hour restaurants, shops..the list goes on. What a change from the days when contact with ones lover meant sending a letter and waiting a week or more to hear back.

On the other hand...Facebook gives us all an opportunity to perve and suss out potential love interests..maybe not such a bad thing then :-p
